Brought in Southern Italy by the Greeks, Greco is one of the most ancient Italian white varietals.
In Tufo chalky soils – located close to the sulfurous mines – Greco acquires unique minerality and freshness.
Here, and only here, Greco becomes one of the best white grapes worldwide.
This varietal, due to its soft skin, requires intense care throughout its production cycle. Greco wine shows great personality, elegance and longevity with a continuous evolution in the bottle of its aromas, structure and persistence.
In the heart of Campania, close to the Avellino town, eight small towns (Altavilla Irpina, Chianche, Montefusco, Prata di Principato Ultra, Petruro Irpino, Santa Paolina e Torrioni e Tufo) located among the hills overlooking the Sabato river design a sort of amphitheater hosting one of the smallest and probably most charming white wine appellation of Italy, the Greco di Tufo DOCG.
Tufo is a small village in the province of Avellino that to date can boast one of the only two white wines produced in Southern Italy with DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin) certification. The other is Fiano di Avellino and for both DOCG recognition came 20 years ago in 2003.
